Our Business/ Career in Maritime Related Industry.
One of the oldest form of transportation is by water. Be it heavy, bulk, light, live, these are transported on man made craft and / or boat or ship and delivered to the intended destination.
The old days have gone and the evolutions of new design and modern powerful boat/barge/ vessels have transformed the way people move and goods being delivered.
As for our country, Malaysia, which is separated by the South China Sea between peninsular, and Sabah/ Sarawak, the cheapest way of moving things/ goods are by sea. Of course the other alternative is by air but a bit expensive.
The movements of goods can be simplified as ‘intermodal transport’, from its origin until its final destinations. Among others involved are sea transports and land transports. These are either by conventional cargo vessel/ container vessel and supported by cargo train, haulage, lorry and people.
There are also many other services would involved in these “intermodal transport’ such as loading, unloading, warehousing, packaging re-labeling and many other things before they are sold and/ or delivered to the final users.
However, these movements are subject to government rules and regulations. That is why we have custom department, immigration department, police department, health department, agriculture and fishery department in the port. They are the authorities to ensure non-violation of laws of movements of goods and/or product being ship to and from our country.
Therefore, these transactions should be documented and declared accordingly to the laws and this is what our company, DKC Intermodal Lines Sdn Bhd’ is doing. We are providing services such as ‘Shipping and Forwarding Agents’ between the government authorities and the clients in order for them to clear their goods/ products from the port and delivered to their store.
